Gabriel Spalone, an influencer, was arrested at the Buenos Aires International Airport in Argentina on suspicion of involvement in a diversion scheme of over R$146 million from a financial institution through Pix transfers.
Spalone was arrested following his listing on the Interpol Red List, with cooperation from various law enforcement agencies in Brazil and abroad.
The Deic reported that individuals exploited a service provider’s credentials to gain unauthorized access to 10 bank accounts and carry out improper transfers via Pix. Two individuals were apprehended in the operation, and a portion of the diverted funds was retrieved. The suspects will be held accountable for theft through deception and criminal collusion.
Before being detained in Argentina, he was arrested in Panama on Friday night, but was later released by local authorities. At that time, there were no current prison orders or international alerts against him, making the arrest illegal. Subsequently, he traveled to Argentina, where he was arrested following the formalization of the Interpol alert.
Eduardo Maurício, a lawyer representing Spalone in the extradition proceedings, has submitted documents in Brazil to demonstrate the influencer’s innocence and plans to request the cancellation of the arrest warrant.
The defense plans to stop a habeas corpus if needed and will request directly to Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France, for Gabriel Spalone to be removed from the wanted list. Additionally, a complaint will be submitted to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) citing irregularities in the prison proceedings.
