WEG (WEGE3) revealed a plan on Tuesday (30) to invest around R$1.1 billion by 2028 to broaden the range of products and boost the Energy unit’s production capacity.
R$ 900 million will be used to build a new plant in Jaraguá do Sul (SC), and R$ 160 million will be allocated for expanding current operations.
The new park will focus on manufacturing large equipment like synchronous compensators up to 330 MVAr, turbogenerators up to 200 MVA, and high-rotation induction engines.
The design will also expand the maintenance offerings for engines, generators, and hydraulic turbines up to 300 MVA.
The site selection will consider important aspects like the nearness to the technical body of Jaraguá do Sul, access to skilled labor, and efficient logistics infrastructure, including proximity to major highways and ports in Santa Catarina. Approximately 1,000 direct jobs are expected to be generated by the project.
The company is investing R $ 160 million to expand the power plant in Jaraguá do Sul by adding 11,250 m2.
The expansion is intended to keep up with the natural increase in demand for the products made at the facility, ensuring improved operational efficiency and backing the company’s expansion, according to WEG.
