Donald Trump, the President of the United States, revealed on Monday (29) that he would be implementing a 100% tariff on all movies made outside of the U.S.

“Our film industry was taken from the United States by other countries, who were taking advantage of us,” Trump stated on Truth Social. He also announced plans to implement a 100% tariff on foreign-made films.

The Republican president has previously made remarks on the topic, including threats of tariffs on foreign and American films screened abroad, with limited details provided in the advertisement.

In May, confusion arose in the industry due to the unclear definition of “foreign films,” particularly regarding Hollywood movies that film abroad to take advantage of tax benefits, as targeted by the American president.

The American media has viewed the action as a direct clash between Trump and the Governor of California.
