Howard Lutnick, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, mentioned Brazil as one of the countries that require improvement to create a more advantageous trade environment for Americans during an interview with NewsNation.

The interview released on Saturday (27) mentions Switzerland, India, and Taiwan as countries that Washington anticipates to make concessions. The US expects these nations to respond appropriately, open their markets, and refrain from actions that could negatively impact the US. Source: InfoMoney.

Lutnick’s statement follows the encounter between Luíz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, and Donald Trump, the President of the United States, at the UN General Assembly. Both leaders acknowledged a positive rapport and agreed to a future meeting.

The conversation between Trump and Lula was not scheduled, according to a U.S. spokesperson.

Amanda Roberson, the Portuguese spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, stated that the meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Luíz Inácio Lula da Silva was not planned before Trump’s speech at the 80th UN General Assembly.
